Pistorius trial resumes with neighbor's testimony

After a two-week break, the Oscar Pistorius murder trial resumed on Monday in South Africa.

Inside the court, the defense called Johan Stander as a witness.

Stander lived near Pistorius and manages the Pretoria housing complex where Pistorius shot dead girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp last year.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DEFENSE WITNESS/ESTATE MANAGER JOHAN STANDER SAYING:

"I received a phone call from Mr. Pistorius and he said on the call, Oom (Uncle) Johan, please, please come to my house, please, I shot Reeva. I thought she was an intruder. Please, please come quick."

Stander was the first person on scene.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) PROSECUTOR GERRIE NEL SAYING:

"How can you out of that call, say that the fact that he shot was a mistake? How do you get there?"
