Russia urges U.S. to halt Kiev crackdown

Ukrainian forces continued their military crackdown against pro-Russian separatists on Saturday in the town of Kramatorsk.

At least six people died in the fighting.

Some Ukrainian soldiers said the rebels were using civilians as human shields.

Ukraine's interior ministry said its troops had re-captured a television tower and the security services headquarters.

Russia's foreign minister says the U.S. should use its influence with Kiev to halt the military crackdown.

Kiev and its western allies accuse Moscow of backing the pro-Russian separatists who've seized control of some parts of east Ukraine.

In Donetsk hundreds of pro-Russian rebels stormed the state security headquarters and the governor's business premises.

Staff had already left the building after the city fell under rebel control.
