Unity in grief in Central African Republic

Muslim and Christians gather to bury a relative -- a Muslim teenager who was kidnapped and killed. His body was beheaded and his heart and genitals cut out.

He was killed when was going to visit his family in the capitol city's PK5 neighborhood.

(SOUNDBITE) (French) CHRISTIAN RELATIVE, PETULA, SAYING:

"There's no security. They say peacekeepers are there -- but there are not many. Why guard areas where there's peace? Here they kill people. But nobody speaks out against this. Even the president, she is not saying anything about us here."

Mostly Muslim rebels, seized the capitol Bangui last year after complaining they were marginalized by the government. Their time in power was marked by abuses and killings that led to the creation of Christian militias and widespread sectarian violence.

Many thousands have died and nearly a million made homeless despite the presence of French and U.N. peacekeepers.
