Actor Bob Hoskins dead at age 71

British actor Bob Hoskins has died after a bout of pneumonia. He was 71.

The gravelly-voiced actor shot to stardom in the 80's, as a mobster in the film "The Long Good Friday."

In 1987, Hoskins received an Oscar nomination for his role in the film "Mona Lisa" and won a Golden Globe.

His big Hollywood break came in 1988, when he played Eddie Valiant in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." He received a Golden Globe nod for the role.

He starred alongside Jet Li in the 2005 film "Danny the Dog."

"Well at the moment, my only experience working with Jet [Li] is been beating up by him. I'm hoping that's going to improve. At the moment it's beaten up."

Hoskins - who also was known for his roles in "Mermaids," "Hook" and "Nixon" - spoke while on the set of his film "Tales from the Crypt."
