FILIPINOS PROTEST NEW DEFENSE DEAL WITH USA
As we can see from these images that have been doing the rounds on social networks, thousands of protesters in the Philippines took to the streets of the capital, Manila, on Monday. The demonstration, which was organized via the web by opposition parties, was to protest a new defense agreement between the Philippines and the United States. The 10 year pact will give the US military more access to the island country and has been met with much hostility from the people of the Philippines.
Many have taken to the web questioning the necessity of this agreement with the United States, and wondering what their country really has to gain from an increased US military presence. Web users have been posting under the #ObamaOut hashtag, voicing their doubts and urging the government to reverse their decision at the earliest possible opportunity.
