London commuters battle Tube strike as businesses lament losses

For millions of London commuters, the Tuesday morning commute was a chaotic mess.

That's because train workers at the London Underground -- the Tube -- are staging their second 2-day strike this year.

They're protesting job cuts and office closures - and forcing underground commuters to find other ways to get to work.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SHIFT WORKER, EURICO MACHADO, SAYING:

"There's loads of anger in the street, you can tell that. Everybody's on the buses, everybody's angry."

The London Underground says the proposed job cuts are part of a modernization plan and won't be compulsory.

The rail workers blame management for eight weeks of failed talks.

The strikers do have their backers among commuters.

"I don't consider it a bad thing, I think they have a right to say what they want to say. And maybe it's not good for other people, but I think it's the only way
