Obama promotes stability and trade deal for Malaysian students

President Barack Obama received a warm welcome Sunday at the University of Malay where he reiterated U.S. commitment to peace and stability in the region.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNITED STATES PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SAYING:

"I believe that together we can make the Asia Pacific more secure, and America has the strongest military in the world, but we don't seek conflict, we seek to keep the peace."

Obama was a holding a town hall style meeting during which he also sought to bolster support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The TPP is a 12-nation deal that would eliminate trade barriers and harmonize regulations.
