Ryan Beitz of Moscow, Idaho is committed to owning every available VHS copy of the 1994 Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock hit ‘Speed’.

He calls his search and acquire mission 'The World Speed Project'.

Beitz already has “like 550 or something” tapes, but his quest is far from over.

Always on the prowl for more copies, he’ll do just about whatever it takes to get his hands on one.

Paying for the tapes, though, isn’t something he’s particularly into.

Beitz recently told Vice, “I don’t want to spend money on this. If a copy’s more than $4, I’ll just steal it. But that’s not going to make me stop…If the idea is awesome, I’m just going to devote myself to it regardless.”

But it’s not all about the tapes. Part of the World Speed Project Plan is to have a small scale replica of the movie’s bus so the VHS cassettes can be transported to art galleries, DIY punk basement shows, and county fairs.

Beitz has already acquired an old converted van. He’s started a Kickstarter campaign for the 25 hundred dollars needed to fix it and paint it to look like the film’s runaway vehicle.
