Amazingly, a 2-year-old little boy is alive and in stable condition after plummeting to the ground from a third story window. The troubling incident occurred shortly before 2 in the morning in Manhattan.
What may very well have saved his life is a trash bin that is situated right next to the building he fell from. The small child hit the screen of the trash container before striking the sidewalk, lessening his impact against the pavement.
The boy, named Jayvin Cruz had reportedly been eating a snack with his mother present in the living room, where his dad was sleeping on the couch just prior to the fall. In that room was a window without child guards. Somehow Jayvin fell through the opening.
The boy’s grandmother was also home at the time, but she was asleep and later said she had no clue Jayvin was even awake. Police are currently investigating the fall, but thus far it seems as though it was simply an unfortunate accident. No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
Jayvin was rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center. He was fitted with a neck brace and other than bumps and bruises, he appears to be just fine.
