The Denver Broncos started with a 24-point lead on three Patriots fumbles before blowing the lead and the game, blowing a punt return on their own 13-yard line in overtime and setting up a field goal that gave New England a 34-31 win on Sunday night.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was able to erase a 24-point deficit, while Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning connected for a touchdown that forced the game into overtime.

The focus then turned to special teams and a punting contest got underway. A live ball hit the leg of a backup cornerback. Tony Carter ran into Ryan Allen's punt after it bounced, Nate Ebner got the ball back for the New England at Denver's 13-yard line. Stephen Gostkowski booted a 31-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining in overtime to lifted the Patriots to a 34-31 win over the Broncos.

New England coughed up the ball on fumbles on their first three possessions and heard it from the fans in the first half. But Brady then turned it on and connected for three touchdowns to lead New England from a 24-0 halftime deficit against the NFL's most potent offense for a 31-24 lead. The Patriots scored on five straight possessions to begin the second half. Then Peyton threw an 11-yard scoring pass to Demaryius Thomas, evening the game at 31.

The Patriots were considered underdogs at Gillette Stadium for the first time since 2005, but were able to improve their record to 6-0 at home this year.

The funniest part of the game came after regulation when two photographers got into a bit of a scuffle trying to take pictures of Manning and Brady shaking hands at centerfield.
