Police brutality? Glynn County police slam elderly woman into pavement

Police brutality in Glynn County, Georgia? That is the question being asked after YouTube user "Nick James" uploaded a video showing police officer Kevin Jones slamming 70-year-old DUI suspect Kathleen Mary Allegrone into the pavement. Jones was taken off duty during an investigation of the incident but has since returned to the job, according to local media.

The incident began on December 5. Allegrone allegedly rear-ended a car at a stoplight. After the accident, Allegrone reportedly emerged from her vehicle to berate the driver in front of her. But she returned to car and locked herself inside once police arrived and refused to cooperate in their investigation.

Police used a slim jim to open her car door. The video shows Allegrone resisting police efforts to walk her to a patrol car. She screams and acts with belligerence.

According to a police account, Allegrone clawed police officer Kevin Jones and drew blood. Her nails left lacerations in his hand. That is why he decided to body slam Allegrone face first into the ground.

A sickening crack can be heard on the video. Allegrone's mugshot photo shows a bloody and bruised face.

Did Kevin Jones act with excessive force in subduing a 70-year-old DUI suspect? Or were his actions justified? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
