One person was killed and 22 people injured in an overturned bus on the southbound Interstate 15 freeway in northern San Diego county on Thursday (December 19).
The bus left Bell and was headed towards the Valley View Casino in San Diego when the the driver lost control of the skidding vehicle, causing it to overturn near the State Route 76 junction at Fallbrook at around 2:30 p.m. The driver Five Star Bus charter bus told authorities that he was driving at 55 m.p.h. and that was not raining at the time of the accident.
The injured passengers were transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido while others were sent to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside.
Two lanes of the southbound freeway was shut down as authorities investigated the accident.
In a separate accident that took place in the same afternoon, another tour bus headed for Garden Grove overturned in northbound I-15 near Corona. The bus carried 22 passengers from the Pala Casino Spa & Resort in San Diego County.
