South Korea and U.S. hold joint military drill

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)

STORY: Troops of South Korea and the United States held a joint live-fire exercise on Friday (April 11) as a part of their annual military drill Foal Eagle.

The two countries staged the drill featuring a wide array of army aviation, artillery, armour at an artillery range in Pocheon, about 50 km (about 31 mile) northeast of Seoul.

It is part of the Foal Eagle exercise which runs until April 18.

The U.S. Eighth Army, the U.S. army's commanding formation in South Korea, said the drill involved 250 U.S. soldiers as well as five High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) and five helicopters.

The exercise also includes about 100 South Korean soldiers, two K1 tanks, four amoured vehicles as well as three mortars.
