Coral reefs are rich in biodiversity, but are dying out around the world. In the Maldives, marine biologist Ameer Abdulla has pushed a unique effort to protect the reef - a tie-up between environmental group IUCN and the island nation’s hotels. The tourism industry in the Maldives relies heavily on divers and snorkelers, so an intact reef is important to hotel managers too.
