A dog in Ohio, now named June Cash, is recovering after surgery. Staffers from Lucas County Canine Care and Control took June in after it was discovered that she was shot in broad daylight.
June was struck in the shoulder by the projectile and it ricocheted, causing severe damage to her leg. Sadly, veterinarians were forced to amputate, as the bullet had shattered her leg.
However, on a positive note, the operation went as smoothly as possible and she regained her health in a local animal hospital. After the recovery, authorities from Planned Pethood took over her care and they will soon place her in a foster home.
Prior to the horrific act, June spent her life as a stray, prowling the streets of East Toledo. For several days local residents had been feeding the friendly dog and she was last seen sitting on a porch before the incident.
Police are currently searching for the suspect who has been accused of shooting her, 26-year old Marcus Crawford. Local residents, some of whom took care of June after the crime, are hoping Crawford will be severely punished for harming the sweet canine.
Since word of June’s ordeal spread, many people have shown interest in adopting her.
