E-mails between General Motors engineers obtained by Reuters show making a change to a faulty ignition switch that was later linked to 13 deaths and cost the company millions, would have cost just $0.90 per vehicle. A Colorado Congresswoman is also citing a 2005 GM document that she says shows a cost of about $0.57 per fix. The recalls have cost General Motors nearly $750 million in first quarter earnings.
