As Afghan elections near, the country's political scene remains dominated by men. The few women who do become politicians have to deal with threats from the Taliban and with sexist attitudes of their male colleagues. Jamila Karimi is a MP campaigning for re-election in the northern city of Kunduz, which is considered to be one of the most conservative in Afghanistan. Over the past five years she has earned a reputation for being incorruptible, at one point living in a tent with her family. She hopes her reputation will guarantee her another term in office. Al Jazeera's Jane Ferguson reports from Kunduz.
