A hair raising 15-second life and death struggle left one Toronto dog owner shaken and nursing two broken fingers after her 110-pound Rottweiler was nearly garotted by his own collar when his leash caught in an elevator door.
It's March 2. The security camera in Tamara Seibert condo elevator is recording everything. She, her Rottweiler and a friend's pitbull are on the way down to the basement from the 11th floor when the door closed on Vado's leash.
And then it happens: as the elevator descends Vado is yanked clean off the ground and pulled toward the ceiling.
Seibert struggles to free her friend who she believes is about to die right then and there. She smashes the emergency stop button but all it does is sound an alarm. She tried helplessly to free him, shredding and breaking two fingers in the process.
But then the leash snaps and Vado is saved. He's fine.
Seibert composes herself and examines her wounds. She's so out of it she picks up random garbage from the floor as she later tells the Toronto Sun.
The college student uploaded this video to her youtube channel as a warning to pet owners about the hazards of elevators.
