Fresh off his trip from Italy, U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday to meet with King Abdullah.
A number of Saudi princes and officials welcomed the president before the meeting, which focused on Gulf security, Syria, Iran, Middle East peace and Egypt.
At his desert palace northeast of the capital Riyadh, King Abdullah had what appeared to be an oxygen tube connected to his nose.
Saudi Arabia wants Obama to shift the U.S. position on support for Syrian rebels.
The U.S. has so far been reluctant to supply rebels with surface-to-air missiles.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and National Security Adviser Susan Rice joined Obama on the trip.
It was his first visit to Saudi Arabia since 2009.
