Student activists supporting the Muslim Brotherhood clashed with Egypt's security forces at the gates of Al Azhar University in Cairo on Friday (March 28).
Scores of demonstrators gathered outside the university gates chanting in support of the Muslim Brotherhood.
When police moved in to stop the demonstration the students retreated inside the university grounds, throwing stones and other projectiles over the gate.
The police responded firing tear gas into the university compound.
Muslim Brotherhood protests have gathered momentum this week following Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's announcement that he will run for president and a court decision to sentence 529 members of the Muslim Brotherhood to death.
