A 7-year-old girl in Fort Worth is being hailed a hero after she crawled underneath a barn to rescue a puppy.

A 7-year-old girl in Fort Worth is being hailed a hero after she crawled underneath a barn to rescue a puppy. It all started when a pregnant dog crept under the old building.

The child, Nina Boyett along with her aunt and a family friend discovered the mom and a puppy and knew they had to do something to save them.

The mother dog had already gone into labor and had a litter of puppies under the barn. The family along with a rescue organization was able to get the adult canine out safely but 10 puppies were left under the structure.

Unfortunately 9 of the puppies were dead, but there was one remaining survivor. Everyone could hear that sole pup yelping and Nina volunteered to help.

There was an exceptionally tiny crawlspace under the barn. Given that very few adults could fit in the space, Nina got down on her belly and crawled to retrieve the pup and bring it to safety.

The second grader was very calm as she brought the small pooch to her family and rescuers. The female puppy is doing great and has been named ‘Princess Nina’.

The mother dog was also rescued and is said to be in good health.
