Here are five of the common myths regarding spring allergy triggers and treatment.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed with all the allergy information and marketing out there. Here are five of the common myths regarding spring allergy triggers and treatment:

Myth Number 5 – Allergies are set off by flowers. Only a small portion of people are allergic to flowers. Pollens made by grasses, trees, and weeds are actually the primary triggers.

Myth Number 4 – Eating local honey prevents pollen allergies. Honey is a sweet and tasty treat however, since bees pollinate flowers and not the primary triggers of trees, grasses and weeds, you probably won’t build immunity.

Myth Number 3 – Allergies don’t start in adulthood. Allergies often begin early and can go away. However, they can also begin whenever you meet new allergens, and childhood symptoms can flare up again in adulthood.

Myth Number 2 – Over-the-counter medicines are enough. Too many people waste money and find little relief by relying on over-the-counter options.

Number 1 – Over the counter nasal decongestant sprays are addictive. They’re not, but if you use them for more than 3 days in a row, they become less effective.
