51-year-old best-selling author, Kevin Trudeau became a very wealthy man while working as a television pitchman, but he was recently sentenced to 10 years behind bars.
There are countless TV pitches from so-called experts informing the audience how they can become rich or how to lose weight.
One man who advertised such products was recently sentenced to 10 years behind bars. 51-year-old best-selling author, Kevin Trudeau became a very wealthy man while working as a television pitchman.
Some of the things he advertised include his tips on acquiring free money, dropping pounds and beating sicknesses the natural way.
Resulting from his TV appearances and authored books, Trudeau was charged with criminal contempt after violating a federal court order in 2004 that prevented him from falsely advertising his misleading weight loss book on infomercials.
Following the ban, Trudeau still aired ads for his book titled ‘The Weight Loss Cure They Don't Want You to Know About’ about 32 thousand times. Evidence at the trial showed that Trudeau distorted the contents of one of his weight loss books in his infomercials.
The presiding Judge Ronald Guzman gave his thoughts on Trudeau stating ‘Since his 20s, he has steadfastly attempted to cheat others for his own gain.’ The judge also said he is ‘deceitful to the very core’.
Trudeau has since apologized to everyone who purchased his book.
