One unlikely woman has become an Instagram celebrity. Her name is Betty Simpson and she’s an 80-year-old grandmother.

It’s not just due to her quirky and lovable personality that easily comes through in her photos, however.

Simpson is battling cancer. Her grandson, Zach Belden is responsible for setting up the social media account for Simpson, as a way to document her daily life, both the happy moments and the sad ones.

In some of the less-than-upbeat photos and videos, Simpson is shown smoking cigarettes, sleeping and appearing to be very frail.

In the happy pics and clips, Simpson dances, sticks her tongue out and makes silly faces. Those images prove she isn’t losing hope despite the lung cancer diagnosis.

Netizens have quickly taken to the loveable grandma and are calling Simpson ‘Instagranny’. Thus far, Simpson has garnered over 164 thousand followers, one of whom is rapper, Pharrell Williams.

Even though she’s now become famous, Simpson says she’s committed to ‘living minute to minute’ and focuses on ‘just being with family’.
