Hi, my names Adam from Asent Data Cabling and in this video I'm going to talk to you about Power Cycling.

What is Power Cycling?

Well power cycling is not riding your bike really, really fast. What it actually means is simply unplugging a device, waiting 60 seconds and then plugging it back in again.

Now quite often this is used on modems to reset the modems. If you've lost your internet connection and it doesn't come back on, a very simple thing you can do is Power Cycle your modem. Unplug it from the wall, wait 60 seconds, plug it back in and then wait another 1 to 2 minutes to see if it synchronises again.

It can also be used on telephones. If your telephone stops working, and it's a non-standard phone - one that you're not renting from Telstra, then simply unplug it from the wall, wait 60 seconds, plug it back in and hopefully that will have fixed the problem.

Now if Power Cycling doesn't fix the problem you will need to call your telecommunication service provider.
