RDAF pilot fires AIM-9L air-to-air missile from F-16
Royal Danish Air Force pilot Thomas Kristensen (call sign MET) fires an AIM-9L ("Sidewinder") air-to-air missile from an F-16 Fighting Falcon over the North Sea during an exercise in October 2012.
The missile was fired at a flare, dropped by an RDAF Challenger aircraft.
An AIM-9L missile costs approximately 575.000 Danish Kroner. In order to keep their training intact and up to par, active pilots have to fire one every third year.
