The White House was turned into an extravagant music concert hall on Thursday (March 6) as soul singers spanning different generations performed for a "women of soul" concert.

"As someone who always shares this house with brilliant, creative, talented, somewhat stubborn women -- I think Women's History Month is the perfect time to honor a few more: the Women of Soul," U.S. President Barack Obama said.

The list of performers included an impressive list of old and new legendary soul singers such as Melissa Etheridge, Patti LaBelle, Janelle Monae, Aretha Franklin, Jill Scott, Ariana Grande and Tessanne Chin.

The concert called "In Performance at the White House" was to be livestreamed at WhiteHouse.gov/live and broadcast April 7 on PBS.

The concert is scheduled to be part of Women's History Month.
