Nailed to the wall for all to see. The Pakistani Taliban announce a month-long ceasefire.

It's being seen as a chance to revive stalled peace talks with government.

But analysts are cautious, saying it would be a fragile truce that's hard to implement.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SECURITY ANALYST AND AUTHOR, ZAHID HUSSAIN, SAYING:

"Lets see if the other 40 or 50 factions will also cease their action. If they do so, then there's no harm in talking to them. But the government should be very careful when dealing with this situation because it should not be that the administration should lower its guard. And that is the danger."

Pakistanis watched the announcement on news bulletins on the television.

Most of these residents were sceptical of the announcement.

They've already seen talks break down last month, after Taliban-linked militants said they killed 23 soldiers.
