STORY: Dior swept into Paris Fashion Week with a collection that packed a punch on Friday (February 28) where bright colours and serious suits were given feminine twists of white laces and sparkling flowers. The show got off to a sombre start with black double-breasted jackets and woollen camel coats adding up to office wear set off with a coloured clutch. But they soon gave way to a series of audacious colour combinations as fuchsia and emerald green swirled down the catwalk with baby pink and royal blue. The clear lines and masculine suits were given a feminine twist with glittery flowers and white laces decorating hemlines. Designer ready-to-wear, or pret-a-porter in French, is an 85-billion-euro ($116 billion) global business, according to Euromonitor, and the fashion week that runs from Tuesday through to March 3 is a major advertising weapon for brands.
