Hundreds of students clashed with police at Ankara’s Middle East Technical University on Tuesday (February 25) as they protested the government’s plan for building a controversial highway in the Turkish capital.
Anti-government demonstrations have been ongoing at the university for a couple of months as students and residents of the area protested against building a road across the university campus.
The plans also allegedly involved uprooting a large number of trees in an area that was one of the largest green spaces in Ankara.
