A 28-year-old man survived a fall from a height of eight stories on Saturday night (February 22) when he jumped out the window in an attempt to ditch the police.
According to officials, the man was accused of attacking a 23-year-old female friend with a kitchen knife inside her Commodore Place apartment at 1990 Ford Drive just before midnight. The woman suffered an injury to her hand.
When police arrived to investigate, the man decided his best recourse was to jump out the window, despite the fact that the apartment was eight stories up. Fortunately ... or unfortunately, depending on how you want to see it, the unnamed man fell smack into an awning before he hit the ground. The fall knocked him unconscious, but left him with severe head and skeletal injuries.
Cleveland police and EMS were called to the scene, and the suspect was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. Meanwhile, his victim was taken to University Hospitals and treated for a laceration to her hand, according to police.
Officials haven't filed any charges against the suspect yet, and it's not known whether the suspect and the woman are still friends.
