Former President George W. Bush doesn’t spend much time in the public eye as of late, but recently spoke at an event and shared what he misses about the job.
He made it clear that in general he doesn’t long for much about holding the office.
During his speech Bush mentioned that he gets asked all the time if he pines for the days of his presidency.
His answer is often, in short, ‘no’.
Some of the perks, however, have proven a little harder to let go of.
At the top of the list is Air Force One.
About the exclusive air service the former president quipped, “In eight years, they never lost my baggage.”
Bush also said he missed the people he worked with.
In closing on the matter he offered, “I do miss saluting men and women who volunteered to defend our nation during war. Many are coming home…and I intend to salute these men and women for the rest of my life.”
With that comment his speech, which was being delivered at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, detailing their Military Service Initiative which aims to help veterans transition into civilian life, was back on point.
