It’s the type of thing you would never expect to happen. A stabbing suspect recently confessed to the crime on camera.

WVLT reporter, Hilary Magacs and the news station's camera crew arrived at an apartment complex to interview a neighbor of the 61-year-old woman who was attacked.

Right from the beginning, police authorities believed the victim’s daughter, Katie Nichols, was responsible for the crime, but she was nowhere to be found once police launched an investigation.

Minutes after the cameras began rolling; Nichols got out of her vehicle and waved to the crew. She walked right up to Magacs and told a bizarre story.

Nichols claimed she and her young daughter hid out after the stabbing. Shortly after her news confession, she was arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.

Her mother was placed into ICU following surgery.
