A compilation by NeighborhoodScout.com, which listed the 100 safest cities in the country, showed that Franklin, Massachusetts landed the number 1 spot.

A compilation by NeighborhoodScout.com, which listed the 100 safest cities in the country, showed that Franklin, Massachusetts landed the number 1 spot. As part of the criteria, all of the cities on the list had to have a population of 25,000 or more.
Franklin has over 33 thousand residents. Both this year and last, the city landed the top spot. The website uses information collected from 17,000 law enforcement agencies to create the list, including the FBI’s report on crime in the US.
Franklin’s crime rate came in far under the average for both the state and country. Said Franklin’s police chief “We’re always pleased when we get recognition like this. But it has a lot to do with the community as well. Certainly, law enforcement can’t take all of the credit.”
A few other well ranking safe cities include Bergenfield, New Jersey, Parma, Ohio, Greenwich, Connecticut and Rancho Santa Margarita, California. They rounded out the top 5.
