An exterminator in Arizona recently tore apart something that was thought to be a brand new mattress.

What Brent Agee found inside was anything but unused. Instead he saw an old, beat up mattress tucked inside a new one.

Allison Kiefer was the purchaser of the mattress. She bought two twin bunk bed mattresses in November of last year from a local store.

Kiefer paid $178.00 for the pair. They were both padded and covered in plastic. A little over two months later, Kiefer witnessed a bug crawl across her bed.

She called Agee from MasterTech Pest Solutions. He arrived at the home to investigate. When he moved the twin mattress, he suspected something was off. Agee estimated it weighed 100 pounds which is far heavier than typical ones.

When Agee sliced it open, it was clearly seen that new padding had been formed around a dirty used mattress. Bed bugs were also found in Kiefer’s home.

The store that sold it, Mattresses 101 claimed everything they deal in is brand new. Managers offered Kiefer a refund and extra compensation to pay for the exterminator.
