This just shows us that nothing else can definitely wreck vocal recordings than those distinct pops. Pop shields are usually produced from nylon or metallic mesh. Other people occasionally make their own pop shield by basically placing a stocking over a wire but this typically does not filter the sound as efficiently as the real pop filters.
