Directors, actors and a whole lot of Hollywood talent came together on Monday night, representing the class of 2014 Oscar nominees.

Attending the annual luncheon which takes place three weeks before the film industry’s biggest night, it’s a chance to say the lines: “It’s an honour just to be nominated”.

This year’s collection reflects a field crowded with high-quality films and strong performances including that of Matthew McConaughey in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’.

“I’m going to celebrate no matter what,” he said.

“I’m already in celebration mode. I’m going to enjoy. This is my first time nominated. And if I ever get nominated again, who knows, but there would never been another first time. So I’m going to enjoy this one”.

Producers for the 86th Academy Awards were also on hand to to give advice on acceptance speeches – the message was: “Say something heartfelt and meaningful rather than a list of people to thank and make it quick”.

One can but hope.
