Captured by the world's media, Spain's Princess Cristina leaves a hotel in Barcelona for a courthouse in Palma de Mallorca.

It's the first time in history that a member of Spain's royal family has been hauled into court in a criminal proceeding.

Princess Cristina's husband Inaki Urdangarin is alleged to have defrauded eight million dollars of public money through his charitable foundation.

The 48-year-old princess is suspected of tax fraud and money-laundering.

Princess Cristina was given special permission to be allowed to be driven to the courthouse, avoiding the glare television cameras.
