Russian MPs propose to limit the zones of free Wi-Fi. They suggest that it is only cellular operators, who can provide services for people to surf the web in airports, cafes and other public places.

The State Duma has given birth to another sudden thought related to public security. Some even argue that Wi-Fi is evil not just because it can spread malicious waves around. Taking advantage of the wireless Internet in public places, some may use it to explode bombs remotely. Therefore, the Duma wants to pull the plug on Wi-Fi terrorists. This idea is hilarious indeed.

"I believe this measure is meaningless. If they want to ensure the safety of using the Internet, the question arises why only airports and cafes? I believe that every measure should be based on clearly understandable reasons. An opinion of an MP is not a reason. Before they do anything else, they should analyze every detail of what they are going to limit.

Those who want to purposefully hide their location, will find a way to do this. There are too many ways to overcome these limitations. I believe that all these proposals from deputies are based solely on their personal opinion. This is an unacceptable situation. This is another step to professional defamation of the Russian parliament.

If we look up to such countries as Ukraine, then this is a right decision to make for those who seek to solve the situation. If our MPs intend to push people to a peaceful confrontation, then this is a right step to make.
