On any given street in New York City, there are all sorts of different dogs being walked by loving owners. Well the stats are in for the city’s most popular dog breed in 2013.

The findings, which were released by the American Kennel Club or AKC, found that Bulldogs landed the number 1 spot. The French bulldog came in second on the list.

Labrador retrievers were found to be the top favored breed in 2012 but in 2013 they dropped down to third on the compilation. The remaining two contenders on the top five list were German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers.

The New York City dog data varied in comparison to the country’s top breeds. Across the United States, the Labrador Retriever was named the overall favorite.

The German Shepherd came in next, followed by Golden Retrievers and Beagles. New York’s beloved bulldog ranked number 5 on the national list. The city’s runner up was even further behind. On the country wide level, the French bulldog came in at number 11.

The data has some nuances however, as the findings only reflect newly registered dogs, which are typically puppies.
