One By Two Movie Review: Pakaoed, paisa waste!
Real-life couple Abhay Deol and Preeti Desai's first collaboration, One By Two has finally hit the screens on 31.1.2014 ! Directed by Devika Bhagat, while we had already witnessed its interestingly Pakaoed campaign going way aboard with cartoon doodles and caption tales, one would have definitely expected the film to be an engaging tour with some fresh new real-life romance coming up on big screen right? In fact, counting on its colorful posters, it moreover looked like a full-fledged slice of life film that would leave you with a feel-good impact even after you move out from the screens! But well, let's not hurry up with our conclusions and find out if our debutant producer Abhay has given us an ample share of entertainment with his maiden production One By Two!
A quick brush up, One By Two is story of two individuals Amit Sharma & Samara Patel. While Amit is an unsorted software geek being dumped by his girlfriend Radhika, Samara is a little more focused woman who wants to pursue her career as a choreographer by winning a reality dance show. Tracing their individual bad phases and how they repetitively cross paths for the better is what the film is all about!
Now the story sounds fresh but apart from a few scenes that connect a little, One By Two surprisingly offers nothing! In fact it rotted with a boring drag through the 2 and half hour long stretch. Wanting to hit the interval time soon, every scene keeps turning out to be lame, confusing and definitely not needed in the film! The writers have tried hard to introduce Punjabi punch lines for humor but in spite of tickling yourself, you wouldn't get a bit of laughter! Performance wise, Abhay looked extremely boring and pathetic and so was Preeti who posed stunning but failed to justify her acting front! Other actors like Rati Agnihotri, Geetika Tyagi, Lillete Dubey were fine on their part but Jayant Kriplani and Darhsan Jariwala were a total waste in the film.
On an overall basis, One By Two downs to be a total 'Pakaoed' film! With nothing to cling on to, the film will definitely remind you of those long and boring algebra classes that leads to confusion and huge boredom.
