Pete Seeger has died. The singer co-wrote enduring folk songs like "If I Had a Hammer" and became a leading voice for social justice; he was well known for his liberal politics, working as an environmentalist, and protesting against wars from Vietnam to Iraq. Seeger died of natural causes. He was 94.

A petition calling for the deportation of Justin Bieber has been listed on the White House's official petition page. The request, called "Deport Justin Bieber and revoke his green card," received more than 72,000 signatures by early Tuesday (January 28) - just shy of the 100,000 needed to warrant an official response from the U.S. government. Bieber is due for an arraignment in Miami on February 14, where he will face potential charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license - all stemming from an arrest last Thursday (January 23).
