At 2962 meters, the Zugspitze is Germany's highest peak. If you travel up it via cable car and the weather is clear, you'll enjoy a spectacular panorama. And the skiing is good here as well, on pistes that are guaranteed to have snow.
You can ski on nine easy to moderately difficult downhill pistes on the Zugspitzplatt, a plateau to the south of the summit. The view of the Wetterstein Mountains, which surround the Zugspitze glacier, is impressive. You can count on snow here from November to May, even if it's slushy elsewhere. Many skiers stop off at Sonn Alpin, the rustic Bavarian restaurant on the glacier, to enjoy a traditional Bavarian treat. More informations: http://www.dw.de/program/discover-germany/s-7856-9798
