Anti-government protesters in Bangkok stopped advance voting from taking place.
They chained doors and forced polling stations to close, not heeding government warnings that such actions would face punishment.
Forty-five of 50 polling stations in Bangkok were shut down by protesters.
Some voters were not pleased.
(SOUNDBITE) (Thai) UNIDENTIFIED VOTER SAYING:
"I feel they have violated my right. This is not right. They should let people vote, it is their right to choose or not to choose someone. They should not do this."
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra called for elections on February 2, hoping to cement her hold on power as anti-government protesters continue to demand her resignation.
It was unclear whether the election would go ahead after a court ruled that the Election Commission could postpone it.
