Klitschko calls on protesters in Ukraine to abide by truce

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich is now calling for an emergency session of parliament to help end the country's political crisis. It may be a sign he might be ready to soften his hardline stance and strike a compromise.

Boxer-turned-politician Vitaly Klitschko after meeting with the president is urging activists to stick to a truce to calm the violent unrest, while conceding that previous promises had been broken.

(SOUNDBITE) (Ukrainian) OPPOSITION LEADER, VITALY KLITSCHKO, SAYING:

"I don't have any guarantees. I know you have been lied to many times. Each one of us has been lied to."

(SOUNDBITE) (Ukrainian) OPPOSITION LEADER, VITALY KLITSCHKO, SAYING:

"I want a truce. I Vitaly Klitschko am addressing each one of you personally I'm begging for a truce until tomorrow morning. You can accept this or you cannot accept this."

Three protesters were killed in the violence and more than 150 police have been injured.
