19-year-old Chris McKernan of Kent, UK, is one of the very rare unlucky hiccup sufferers. In his case, they haven’t stopped for the past two months.

There’s no doubt about it …. Hiccups are annoying. While a short bout of them is fairly typical, they normally don’t last too long.

19-year-old Chris McKernan of Kent, UK, is one of the very rare unlucky hiccup sufferers. In his case, they haven’t stopped for the past two months.

During that time frame, he has hiccupped over 1 million times. It all began on November 20th of 2013. Believing they would go away as always, he didn’t make a big deal of it.

But the next day came, then a week. Fast forward two months later, he sill had the hiccups coming in rapid succession. On average, McKernan is hiccupping 25 times in a minute. That equates to 1,500 an hour or 24,000 a day.

McKernan is understandably fed up. He claims to have tried every single trick to rid them known to man including standing on his head, sucking on a lemon and getting a scare.

Even his doctor is baffled. He was prescribed acid relieving tablets and still, the hiccups prevail. For now he’s stuck hiccupping his way through day to day life, but fortunately his girlfriend doesn’t seem to be bothered.
