Congressional Leader Nancy Pelosi provided a unique insight into the political world as experienced by a woman to the attendees of 25th Anniversary Of The UC Hastings Women's Law Journal in San Francisco. Just hours after the end of a historic government shutdown orchestrated by the opposing political party, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi gave this the keynote address focused on "When Women Succeed, America Succeeds". The title references an initiative agenda that "stands on the shoulders of what was accomplished at Seneca Falls by addressing the economic challenges facing women and families today." Leader Pelosi enumerated the three issues that need to be addressed so that women, and their families, can truly succeed today: equal pay, expanded paid medical and family leave, and improved child care.
