Many loving dog owners rely on their pets to fend off other animals and alert them of potential dangers. But sometimes it’s the dogs that get caught off guard.

Residents of a neighborhood in Sun Valley, Southern California are being terrorized by a mountain lion. The wild animal has reportedly attacked and made off with one dog belonging to a family living on the street located in close proximity to Hollywood Way and Glen Oaks Boulevard, and is believed to be behind the disappearance of a neighbor’s pet.

The Tomasian family was the first to suspect something was drastically wrong after their pet Boxer disappeared on the 4th of January. Baffled, they reviewed their home security camera and discovered a mountain lion had roamed in the backyard right around the time their dog went missing.

About a week and a half later, the Tomasians’ next door neighbors terrifyingly witnessed a mountain lion, suspected to be the same one, drag their small canine named Duke off the property by jumping over a tall gate.

Two additional attacks were reported in a nearby area, all of which are close to the Verdugo Mountains.
