STORY: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced nominations on Thursday for the 86th Academy Awards.
Films from the Middle East to Europe make up the nominated movies for best foreign language film of the year.
The five slots for nominations went to "Broken Circle Breakdown" from Belgium, " The Great Beauty" from Italy, "The Hunt" from Denmark, "The Missing Picture" from Cambodia and "Omar" from the Palestinian Territories.
The Academy will hand out the Oscars at a ceremony hosted by comedian Ellen DeGeneres in Los Angeles on March 2.
