STORY: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced nominations on Thursday for the 86th Academy Awards.
"Gravity's" director Alfonso Cuaron and "American Hustle's" director David O. Russell both earned directing nods, as the two films lead the race with 10 nominations each.
The pair are listed with Alexander Payne for "Nebraka," Steve McQueen for "12 Years a Slave," and Martin Scorsese for "The Wolf of Wall Street."
The Academy will hand out the Oscars at a ceremony hosted by comedian Ellen DeGeneres in Los Angeles on March 2.
